Fork-tailed Storm-Petrel

Oceanodroma furcata

The fork-tailed petrel is a small aquatic bird which makes the open ocean its home. During the breeding season, the petrels return to land to find a partner and make their nests. Each pair of petrels will only lay one egg. The egg is incubated by both of the parents until it hatches. This species is common throughout the year in the coastal waters of British Columbia.
