Barn Owl

Tyto alba

The barn owl, with its heart-shaped face and snowy-white underbelly, is not common in Canada; its true range is primarily south of the Canada/US border. It does occur in southern Ontario and British Columbia, however, where it lives in and around urban areas and farms. The call of this owl is a raspy, hissing screech.
