Island Marble Butterfly

Euchloe ausonides

The island marble butterfly disappeared from Canada before 1910, although it has recently been rediscovered on San Juan Island in Washington. It used to inhabit Vancouver Island at lower elevations. The most likely cause of its extirpation is the elimination of its food source to grazing animals.
