Canada's Species   Species at risk

Blue Ash

Fraxinus quadrangulata

Found only in Ontario, the blue ash is a medium-size tree with dense flower clusters that blossom in April. It grows in sandy soil in areas without much shade. Forest clearing and quarrying are continuing threats to the species, which has no protection in Canada.
