Water-pennywort

Hydrocotyle umbellata

This small perennial herb is found only in Nova Scotia. Water-pennywort grows alone lake shorelines where the fluctuation of water levels is instrumental in the species survival because it limits competition form other plants. The main limiting factors for the species are stabilization of water levels, recreational use of waterways, and habitat loss.
