Neolecta vitellina

The unusual, bright-yellow fruit body of this fungus is visible above ground, but below, the fungus is directly attached to the thin rootlets of spruce trees. It is not known whether this species is a parasite of its host or whether the two species have established a beneficial symbiotic relationship.
