White Matsutake

Tricholoma magnivelare

This edible white mushroom is considered a delicacy, and is sometimes commercially picked and sold. It's broad (5-25cm) cap is inrolled at the edges, and stains brown-orange with age. The white matsutake is prized for its spicy scent and for is size, and is found growing in soil at the base of pine and oak trees.
