Leafhoppers are all phytophagous, feeding on almost all types of plants including forest, shade and orchard trees, shrubs, grasses, and field and garden crops. They feed mainly on leaves. Many species of leafhoppers can be pests of crops and ornamental plants. Leafhoppers are stout small insects with a short triangular head and usually, long wings. Their colour and size is extremely variable and many ahave a distinct colour pattern. The hind tibiae have two long rows of small spines.
