Larvae are found in ponds and slow-moving streams. They build cases of various shapes and the cases made by young larvae are different from those of older larvae. Some build cases with sticks and stones in an arrangement which looks similar to a log cabin. Adults are found along the edges of ponds near the larval habitat. Limnephilids are brownish with the wings mottled or patterned.
