Yuma Bat

Myotis yumanensis

The yuma bat is a representative of the mouse-eared bats (genus Myotis), and is therefore similar in appearance to the little brown bat. It is generally smaller than its cousin but it has larger hind feet. This species occurs throughout western North America as well as central Mexico. In Canada, the yuma bat is located in the coastal regions of British Columbia. This species is partial to forest clearings and arid regions. It is nocturnal and feeds primarily on insects. This little bat has been shown to be capable to eat more than half its body weight in one day.
