Family Aeshnidae

This family includes the largest dragonflies. They are found around ponds and swamps. Adults are very strong fliers that will patrol a hunting territory along the edge of the water body. Aeshnidae are usually dark coloured with the thorax blue or greenish. They have clear, glassy wings. Their eyes are hemispherical and meet on top of the head.
