Short-tailed Albatross

Diomedea Albatrus

These large birds were quite common in the past but are currently at risk of extinction. Short-tailed albatrosses were once seen frequently off the coast of British Columbia but have become a rare sight in recent times. The entire world population of short-tailed albatrosses numbers around 300, but is increasing. These birds feed on a variety of fish and will nest on rocky outcroppings along the shore.
