Northern Cricket Frog

Acris crepitans

This 35mm-long frog is distinguishable by the v-shape which extends from eye to eye on the back of its head, and by the dark stripes on its hind legs. The Canadian subspecies, A. c. blanchardi, is found only at Point Pelee, Ontario, where it seems to be declining in numbers.
