Pygmy Short-horned Lizard (British Columbia population)

Phrynosoma douglassii douglassii

Like its other subspecies the eastern short-horned lizard, the pygmy population is squat and flat-shaped. It is darker than the eastern subspecies, and has shorter horns. The only collection of a pygmy short-horned lizard was late in the 1800s, from thedry southern Okanagan Valley where its range extends into Canada.
