White Prairie Gentian

Gentiana alba

Found only in a few parts of southern Ontario, the white prairie gentian is a sprawling plant that flowers late in summer. It doesn't do well in shade and is often found in areas cleared by fire, as this creates an open habitat. There is no protection specific to the white prairie gentian and no current recovery program has been established to help the endangered species.
