American Water-willow

Justicia americana

This aquatic herb is found in southern Quebec and southern Ontario, in decreasing populations. The American water-willow grows along streams, often submerged. Shoreline development projects are threatening the plant in Quebec, where a research project has found that nine populations have disappeared in recent years, leaving the species in a precarious state.
