Canada's Species   Species at risk

Red Mulberry

Morus rubra

In 1999, the total known population of the red mulberry was 123 trees. All the sites are in southwestern Ontario. Loss of habitat due to land clearing and altering of drainage patterns is the main limiting factor for the red mulberry which is also negatively impacted by the more aggressive white mulberry.
