Channel Darter

Percina copelandi

The channel darter is uncommon in Canada, occuring in small chanels or tributaries in Ontario and Quebec. Competition for spawning territory from other darter species may be a limiting factor for some Channel Darter populations, along with extensive sedimentation and changes in water quality and temperature. In November 1999, the Quebec government initiated a recovery team for the channel darter.
