Aurora Trout

Salvelinus fontinalis timagamiensis

Wild aurora trout were once common in several lakes in Ontario but disappeared in the early 1970's. All existing populations depend on hatcheries for continued survival. Lake acidification is the main cause of the trout's disappearance.
