Willow Aster

Aster praealtus

The willow aster is a herbacious perennial found in Ontario. It grows in prairie-like oak savannah habitats, flowering in late fall. Many of the known populations occur in the City of Winsor, or on nearby Walpole Island. These areas have been heavily disturbed by industrial activities, house construction, and agricultural practices. The plant has no legal protection, although some populations are in provincial or municipal parks, which affords them some protection.
