Fernald's Milk-vetch

Astragalus robbinsii fernaldii

Fernald's milk-vetch is only found in eastern Quebec and northwestern Newfoundland. It grows in calcium-rich soils with limited surounding vegetation. The plant does not tolerate shade. Intensive trampling, off-road vehicles, snowmobiles, snow fences and limestone extraction all contribute to the species' decline.
