Bathurst Aster

Aster subulatus obtusifolius

The Bathurst aster is an annual flowering plant found only in New Brunswick. It grows in areas where salt water is present such as salt marshes or in saline sands. Loss of habitat is likely responsible for the fact that few populations of Bathurst aster exist in Canada. Pollution and disturbance of sites due to development could threaten the remaining populations.
