Black Buffalo

Ictiobus niger

In Canada, black buffaloes are found only in southern Ontario. This species is considered rare in Canada. Their habitat preferences are not well known, but they seem to prefer turbid waters. Specific limiting factors have not been identified for this species. Black buffaloes are known to be intolerant to pollution. Lack of suitable habitat is a possible limiting factor.
