Canada's Species   Species at risk

New Jersey Rush

Juncus caesariensis

In Canada, the New Jersey rush is found only in Nova Scotia. This herb grows on the edges of bays or coves with a boggy surface. Changes in the water compostition have a detrimental effect on the species' habitat. There is no official protection for the plant, but a common recovery plan is being developed for an entire group of coastal plain plants in Nova Scotia, including the New Jersey rush.
