Pitcher's Thistle

Cirsium pitcheri

Pitcher'stThistle occurs along the shoreline sand dunes of lakes Michigan, Huron and Superior. The plant has a slender white stalk which can reach up to 1 m in height, and flowers in July. Grazing by white-tailed deer, as well as recreational use of beaches are limiting factors in the thistle's survival.
